Reflection on Education:

As we can see when we compare the education level of immigrants from Europe and Sub-Saharan African. We can see that immigrant population with a bachelor's degree is about 5-6% less than the U.S population with a bachelors degree level education. However, we can see that immigrant populations from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa have a higher percentage of advanced degree recipients when compared to the population of the U.S with advanced degrees.

Analysis on Population:

The population data or Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland, and Denmark combined is only half the population of Nigeria and 16 million less than the population of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This tells me that religion of Nigeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo are much more common in our world than the common religions of Western European Countries.

  • The Oath Keepers

  • The Three Percenters

  • Nazis and Proud Boys

Analysis on Hate Groups:

According to the FBI and NPR.org. These primary groups who stormed the US Capital believe that they are fighting internal corruption. The reason behind storming the capital was rooted in their belief that the 2020 the election had been stolen from Trump. The religious backgrounds of these groups are rooted in Western Religions. This is problematic because Trump has led them to believe that he himself is a messenger of God. Giving him greater influence over these groups of believers. I believe that we are experiencing a historical time that is challenging the framework of democracy, that will test the separation of church and state.

Analysis on Income:

About 90% of federal revenue derives from the federal taxes collected in states. Some states receive more than they give. States who have a larger population of high income earners will typically pay more in Federal taxes. Meaning that states with older populations who receive medicare and social security will typically receive more than they pay in Federal taxes.

Analysis On Minerals

Many of the largest suppliers of these metals are countries with unstable or authoritarian governments. Meaning that as these metals become more sought after, these countries may become further unstabilized. Leading to possible genocide or crimes against humanity.

General Reflection

The most important thing that I learned from this class was the reality of the impacts that COVID-19 is having on populations of minority. From the data I collected, I can see that minority groups are disproportionately dying of COVID-19. The COVID-19 deaths in the United States have already taken more lives than we have people in our minority populations living at or below the poverty level. I also learned how the United States has the largest prison population in the world, a population larger than the prison population of authoritarian countries that we often criticize for human rights violations. It was also surprising to learn the military budget of the US in comparison to other countries military budgets. I am a marketing major and feel that having a proper understanding of global populations is important to creating effective marketing campaigns. From the data I collected, I can tell that the groups we consider to be minority groups actually make up the combined majority in our country. However, when we combine the minority populations, we can see that the minority actually make up the majority in our country. Even though minority groups make up the majority in our country, there is little minority representation in our country. Our government leaders do not accurately reflect the population they represent. In the US most political leaders are white Christian or protestant males. Meaning that the diverse religions in our country have little to no representation in comparison the groups of Christian groups. Yet the US is the country with the most religious diversity in the world. I believe that in order for our country to achieve true democracy. There must be government representation that represent the religious and ethnic diversity in the country. What was also surprising to find, was the amount of elected officials in Congress who only have a high school diploma or an associates degree. When comparing the GDP of California to the GDP of other countries such as France and the UK, it was surprising to see that just the GDP of California is larger than the GDP of those countries. I thought that I was going to find that China had the largest GDP but I was wrong. I was also surprised to learn that the US has less women in leaders than other countries such as Sweden and Cuba.
