Creating SEO Youtube Content

Youtube content can appear in Google searches. Therefore I want to be sure to create Youtube content that has a higher likelihood of appearing in search results. Below I explain my process for creating content that is more likely to appear in Google search results.

I begin by determining a main target keyword (or phrase) that describes the topic of my content. Then analyze that main keyphrase with Semrush and see how difficult it would be for my content to appear in search results for that keyphrase. If the difficulty is too high, I search for a variation of the keyphrase that will allow my content a higher likelihood of appearing in search engine results.

In this example the main keyphrase of my content is “jobs to be done”.

Below we can see that the keyphrase "jobs to be done,” has a 67% ranking difficulty. Meaning it is difficult to appear in search engine results for this keyphrase. In order to rank, content needs to be optimized as well as have 177 referring domains. Since my Youtube account (@TomasCorzamarketing) is about three months old with only 18 subscribers, I knew it would be highly unlikely for my content to appear in searches for the keyphrase “jobs to be done”.

Using Semrush, I located a keyphrase variation that would allow my content a higher likelihood of appearing in search results. In this case I found that it would be easier to rank for the variation “how to write jobs to be done”. As we can see below this keyphrase variation has a ranking difficulty of 22%. The search volume is significantly lower but it is much easier to appear in searches for this keyphrase variation. I would just need to create quality content focused on the keyword intent. Therefore, I chose the keyphrase variation “how to write jobs to be done,” to target and shape my content around.

For my content to appear in Google search results of this target keyphrase, it would need to be high quality and focused on the keyword’s intent. High quality does refer to the video’s resolution and audio but most importantly, content consistency.

The intent I focused on was informational. Meaning I created my content with the intent to inform.

In order to best achieve content consistency I utilize the following;

  • Dialogue inclusion

  • Visual keyphrase depiction

  • Data structuring

  • Title, tag, and description inclusion

Dialogue Inclusion

I first write dialogue structured around the target keyphrase. The first line of dialogue is the target keyphrase “how to write jobs to be done”.

Visual Keyphrase Depiction

The Youtube algorithm utilizes Google’s Cloud Vision, in order to identify everything in video images. The algorithm then associates the content to what it sees in the video. Therefore, I added text containing the target keyphrase in the first second of the video (pictured below).

Data Structuring

When you upload a video to Youtube, the first data the algorithm associates with the content is the file information. Being the name of the video file and its meta data. In order to ensure the algorithm associates my content with the target keyphrase, I optimize the video file before uploading to Youtube. Meaning that I include the target keyphrase in the video file’s title and inject the target keyphrase into the video file’s metadata. Below you can see the name of the video file uploaded to Youtube starts with “how to write jobs to be done.”

Title, Tag, and Description Inclusion

Once the video is uploaded to Youtube, I then structure the description, tags and title with the target keyphrase. I ensure the keyphrase is the first phrase in the video title. I then add the title to the first line of the description and add the keyphrase as a tag. Below you can see that the target phrase appears in the title, description and tags.

Results

Below is an SERP analysis of the keyphrase “how to write jobs to be done.” We can see that my video is currently the 49th result that appears in searches for the target keyphrase. Which is significant, considering that at the time of thee analysis my channel had 18 subscribers, the video only had 24 views and was uploaded two months prior.
